I've been attending CSULA for about 2 years now, and I wanted to ask if it was possible for me to take 20 units (to add 1 more class), instead of 16 units. My GPA and grades are fairly good, so I'm very positive I can handle it. The class is also MoWe, and I still currently don't have any classes on MoWe (only TuTh). Will it be possible for me to get that extra class? (I'm a bit of an overachiever). If so, how can I do it? Thanks!

That is super great! You should contact your major department/advisement center for a Petition for Excess Units, which will ultimately be turned in to the Office of Enrollment Services in ADM 146. Good luck!

I'm sorry, I'm sure you guys get this question A LOT but I must... I checked my application status on GET and its says "Admitted." Does it really mean I've been admitted, or should wait to celebrate until I get a paper that actually says that? Thank you in advance! :)

Hello!

Your admit status is not official until you receive a notice of conditional admission from us. We are currently in the process of sending out acceptance notifications for Winter 2015 applicants. The notice will be sent to the e-mail address you listed in your application, so please check your e-mail often!

Feel free to contact us if you have any more questions. Have a fantastic day!

Hello. I'm trying to register for the WPE, but in the schedule of classes, all of them are already closed. Can I still add the closed ones? Or what do I need to do to add it? (It's my first time enrolling in CSULA as a graduate student and I just read in page 140 of the Univ. Catalog that I'm supposed to register for the WPE during my 1st quarter or my enrollment would be voided. I am enrolling late since I was waiting for my student loan to be approved first.) Thank you for your help.

Hi!

First, you should check with your graduate department to verify whether or not they require it.

Second, if it is required, then keep an eye out and check GET periodically to see if anyone drops their UNIV 400 course since there are 60 sections of it. You cannot add a closed class; it will show up as “open” again if there is space available.

Please refer to the policy stated on the University Testing Center’s WPE information page:

Cal State L.A. Graduate Students:

  • Should refer to the 2009-2011 University Catalog, page 140 for complete policy information, to determine if they have already satisfied this university requirement
  • Generally must satisfy this requirement within the first three quarters of attendance, or before completing 16 units, whichever comes later

Hope that helps!

HELLO! I am worried about what's going on with my financial aid stuff, I've enrolled in direct deposit but I haven't received the rest of my financial aid money I was supposed to use for my expenses such as books and other utilities. I was wondering if there is anything I can do to be able to get the left over money from my financial aid as soon as possible. Please help 🙏

Hello!

Surplus financial aid is generally not disbursed until around the first week of the quarter. For more financial aid questions, please contact the Financial Aid department at (323) 343-6260 or visit them in SA 124.

Good Morning! I know I'm probably being a tad impatient, but I wanted to ask about when will acceptance/not accepted notices emails will be sent? I logged on to GET and my status went form admitted to incomplete and I'm wondering if I should turn in my transcripts or wait until I get an email with a notice? Thank you!

Hello!

The processing time varies, depending on which quarter you applied for and what your academic level is (transfer or graduate). We are currently processing applications for Winter 2015 and Spring 2015. It never hurts to send in your transcripts early. :)

If you would like information about your account specifically, feel free to inbox us with your CIN, DOB, and inquiry.

Have a great day!

Hello! I submitted an application this morning and I JUST NOW noticed an error. And I'm freaking out about it because I REALLY want to transfer to CSULA! Is there any way I can fix it or am I done for until the next application period? Thanks so much for any help!

Hello!

Depending on the error, you may be able to correct it by submitting a Self-Reported Transfer Admissions Supplemental Form. The form can be found at http://web.calstatela.edu/univ/admiss/srGPA.pdf

Let us know if you have any further questions. Thanks!

Received a D in an accounting class, it puts me exactly at the 60 units required to transfer, but it is not a required class for my major, will it affect my admissions for the Fall 2014

Hello!

It could potentially affect your admission if it lowers your GPA too much.

hi admissions office. my admissions status is currently the green circle (completed). my transcript has been received by admissions office but it is only partial or marginal as it says and that is because i am still taking summer classes. the deadline for transcripts is July 15. would this affect me? and would my admissions status change from a circle to a checkmark? thank you

Hello!

We do not accept prior-quarter coursework for admissions eligibility. However, if you are taking summer classes that will not directly affect your eligibility because you are already eligible (enough units, the Golden 4, etc.) then it’s fine. In the meantime, just send a marginal transcript that has your in-progress work.

Thanks!
